Welcome to our website! Here you will find reviews and articles on eye glass frames and many other kinds of frames to make you look great.

Glass frames have been around since the 1200’s though it’s only when the late 90’s hit that glass frames have been sold in optical shop storefronts. Glass frames are bearing lenses worn in front of the eyes. They are normally used for vision correction, eye protection or protection from UV rays.

The modern glass frame types typically have supported pads on the bridge of the nose and by temple arms over the ears. Glass frames come in various types each categorized according to their use such as:

Corrective Glass Frames which are used to correct refractive errors of the eyes by modifying the effective focal length of the lens to relieve the effects of eyesight conditions such as nearsightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism.

Safety Glass Frames are usually made with shatter-resistant plastic lenses which protect the eyes from flying debris. They vary in the type of materials used which have various impact resistances.

Sun Glass Frames may be made with either prescription or non-prescription lenses which are darkened so as to provide protection from bright visible light and ultra violet light. Sun glass frames are often used simply for aesthetic purposes or to hide the eyes.

3D Glass Frames are worn to provide the illusion of three dimensions on a two dimensional surface which can be created by giving each eye a different visual information.

Reading Glass Frames are magnifying lenses or generic spectacles that are used to treat mild presbyopia and hyperopia. Reading glass frames can be bought off the shelf of optical stores. Generally, these glass frames are considered safe but it is much better to consult an ophthalmologist or optometrist so you can get better visual correction and fewer headaches and visual discomfort as well.

Bifocals, trifocals and progressive lenses are used to cover all the situations in which old people use their eye sight as their ability to focus is lessened.

Extreme Magnification glass frames are a form of glasses with extreme magnification to improve the distance vision of those with severe eyesight impairment.

Glass frames can be a major part of a person’s fashion statement. For some celebrities, glass frames form a part of their identity. During the 1950s and 1960s, bowline glass frames were the standard for men. And in pop culture, superheroes used glass frames as part of their disguise as portrayed by Superman and Wonder Woman who hid in their alter-egos Clark Kent and Diana Prince.

Although glass frames have their benefits as stated above, they also have some disadvantages such as inconvenience in wearing them. A good example of this inconvenience is during rigorous sports. The frames can also become an inconvenience when they become greasy or trap vapor when eating hot food, swimming, walking in rain or rapid temperature changes which can reduce visibility significantly. And when the glass frames suffer from scraping, fracturing, or breakage, this can be time consuming and can be a costly professional repair, though modern plastic glass frames are almost indestructible and very scratch-resistant.
